Tommy Tips

What’s up Everybody! It’s Tommy Again, and it’s time for another one of my weekly stories. So I just finished my first week of school, and I have to be honest, in all of my years of college, I have never had a first week quite like this. Man, there were three parties, two club fairs, a paper, a small project, two job interviews, and I still work at the local pizza buffet. Needless to say, I’ve been mad busy.

You’re probably wondering how I managed to get it all done? If you’re not, you should be now. Well I’m glad you asked. Since I like you, I’m going to share my Tommy’s Time Managements Tips with you. … Patent pending.

So I wake up at 5 AM and from there I do all of my homework and I go for a morning run before coming home, showering and eating breakfast.

By now it is roughly 7 AM. I hop in my car, drive to campus (I live off Campus…give me a break, I’m old). I go to class from 8-2pm with a lunch break at noon. Then I leave class and go and set up for the club fairs. After the club fair I throw on my Apron and go to work from 4-8pm. I leave work and meet with my group members at 8:30 for the project. We work from 8:30-10ish and then I go into my friend’s room, shower, and get ready to party. I party until about 12ish or 1ish, drive ten minutes home and go to sleep. Then I start over again the next day.

I realize that there are 24 hours in a day and I have a truck load of things to get done during the day. So, I look at my day holistically and decide what I can sacrifice and what I absolutely have to have. It was the first week of class so I figured I could get away with a party during the week if I was willing to sacrifice sleep. So I did. This works for me. The key is finding out what works for you. Just remember that there are twenty-four hours in a day and the most important part of any time management plan is maximizing every second of the day. If you find yourself doing nothing, reevaluate your plan and figure out how to better use your time. Trust me this will make both college and life much better.
